Pamela DeGraaf, (President), is a senior project controls professional with over 20 years of experience providing leadership in project controls. With 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, mining and power in both engineering and construction environments. Pam also specializes in developing, improving and integrating systems, processes and relationships. Pam has a degree in Commercial Art, immediately followed by an accounting diploma. She has been a member of AACE for 10 years and PMP certified working towards a designation.

Jatin Jajal, (Vice President), is a hands-on oil and gas industry manager committed to making positive contributions and advancements for over 9 years to the industry. He brings to the table a wealth and diverse experience within the industry. He has the ability to lead teams and monitor operational objectives to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency which, in turn, will lead to timely project completion and maximum profitability. He possesses Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and is registered as a professional engineer with APEGA. He holds various certifications from AACE, PMI, CIQS and RICS. He also has a Master of Business Administration from Athabasca University.

Jatin has managed up to 15 employees within the oil and gas industry while overseeing $2B overall department portfolio. Jatin is a positive, loyal and pragmatic leader committed to excellence and has worked in multiple locations worldwide with multiple nationalities. He has proficiencies in leading diverse teams, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, costing, financial control, cost engineering services, document management, QM processes, business administration, management reporting, earned value management, performance measurement and project execution.

AACE Edmonton

Pranab Deb (Past President), is a Project Controls Professional possessing over 12 years of experience in construction project management including Oil & Gas, Energy, Commercial and Heavy Civil. He has been an active member of AACE International from 2009, having started volunteering as a member proctoring exams and making arrangement for AACE presentation meetings. He has served the AACE International UAE chapter as VP Membership and Marketing and as Member of marketing team for the International Total Cost Management Conference in 2012 in Dubai, UAE. In 2013 he moved to Edmonton to work for Voice Construction as a Senior Scheduler for a major refinery project north of Edmonton. Here as part of AACE Edmonton Aurora Section he has started attending the dinner meetings and serving the local section as a Member at Large supporting various board members.

Pranab is a Civil Engineer by education and holds the PSP credential from AACE and PMP from PMI. In the fall of 2012 Pranab was introduced to the mentoring program of AACE and he was immensely benefitted from the AACE International Mentoring program wherein he was mentored by Julie Owen the incumbent president of AACE, so when the opportunity came to serve the Mentoring Success Advisory Committee as a Social Media and PR representative he readily took the opportunity. Pranab currently works for Stantec Consulting as a Planner/Scheduler.

Martin Tokar (Director - Communication), is currently in the market for a new permanent position and actively seeking employment. He is AACE International - Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) and Certified Cost Professional (CCP) who focuses on building relationships with the people. He worked as Contracts Specialist, Estimator and Project Controls Specialist. Martin has a B.Sc. Degree in Engineering from the University of Calgary. He also holds Professional Quantity Surveyor Designation (PQS), awarded by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors. Martin worked with the world-class engineering, construction and consulting leaders such as Syncrude, Encana, Enbridge, Exxon, Lauren Engineers & Constructors, Rider Hunt International and Talisman. His project contributions include: Aurora Mine, Foster Creek, Christina Lake, Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP), Horizon Project, Kearl Lake Project and Muskrat Falls Project. Martin is a dynamic person, who focuses on great communication to create value and to build relationships. Martin is also passionate about the technology and innovations.

Yahui Xiang (Treasurer), is a M.Sc. graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta. She has two years’ experience in manufacturing industry and more than three years’ research experience in mineral processing. Yahui was the recipient of the Young Author Award on the 2014 International Mineral Processing Congress in Chile. Currently, Yahui is working for the University of Alberta as a Research Assistant and exploring her career as an engineer.

Ming Lu (Director - Faculty Representative), is currently Associate Professor of Construction Engineering and Management in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Alberta. Dr. Lu taught at Hong Kong Polytechnic University for 10 years and remained active in research. In Sept. 2010, Dr. Lu moved back to Alberta and assumed a faculty position in CEM to continue applied research and train graduate students in partnership with Alberta industry. Dr. Lu has been actively involved in the AACE community through providing consultancy services and regularly presenting technical workshops (AACE Annual Meetings in 2013 and 2014; plus dinner meetings in local chapters at Edmonton and Calgary).

Mohamed Abdelgawad (Member at Large), is a supervisor risk management professional with more than 13 years of experience in construction management. Mohamed’s previous experience includes planning, scheduling, project controls, construction claims, delay analysis, and document management. Mohamed holds a Civil Engineering degree, diploma in construction management, Master degree in Construction Management, and a Ph.D. degree in construction management from the University of Alberta. Mohamed is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA and Project Management Professional (PMP).

AACE Edmonton

Ramon Ombac (Member at Large), is a project controls specialist with more than 25 year experience in project management, planning, scheduling, cost control, cost estimating, quantity surveying and construction supervision in oil and gas, mining, industrial, residential and commercial projects in the Philippines, Middle East, Ontario and Alberta. He has been an active AACE member since 2005 and has held various executive positions with Bluewater chapter in Ontario and Aurora-Edmonton chapter. Ramon holds a Civil Engineering degree, and a Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP).
